1. About these Terms

Flipnote World is a community website operated by RexiMemo for people interested in Flipnote Studio. These Terms cover its documentation, forum, project directory, accounts, file attachments, embedded players and Git service. By creating an account or using these features, you agree to follow these Terms.

Flipnote World is independent of Nintendo, Hatena and the other projects listed here. A listing, link or imported repository does not imply a partnership or endorsement. Third-party software and content keep their own licences.

The site is still being developed. Features and limits may change, and service interruptions can occur. Keep your own copies of work that matters to you. For questions about these Terms, contact rekunote@gmail.com.

2. Who can use Flipnote World

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. If your local law requires a parent or guardian's permission for someone your age, you must have it. Parental permission does not allow a child under 13 to use the site.

Do not misrepresent your age, identity, project ownership or permissions. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we may restrict access and remove the account and its personal information as appropriate.

3. Accounts and RexiMemo linking

You can create a Flipnote World account directly or choose Log in with RexiMemo. You are responsible for keeping passwords, Git tokens, SSH keys and research access codes secure. Use a unique password and tell us promptly if an account or credential may have been compromised.

A linked RexiMemo account can supply your identity, a default profile picture and, where applicable, staff permissions. Linking does not merge the two sites' content. You can unlink in Flipnote World Settings after setting a World password so that you can still sign in. Unlinking does not delete either account, your Git history or content already published.

Do not impersonate people, take over accounts, share access codes with unauthorised people, or create accounts to evade moderation. Repository owners remain responsible for the permissions they give collaborators. A staff or researcher role does not authorise access to unrelated private information.

4. Community rules

These rules apply to forum posts, profiles, attachments, embeds, repository descriptions, issues, reviews, release files and anything else you publish through the site.

  • Treat people respectfully. No harassment, threats, discrimination, stalking, targeted humiliation or deliberately encouraging others to attack someone.
  • No grooming, sexual solicitation, sexual exploitation, pornography, sexually explicit material or sexual content involving minors.
  • No uncensored depictions of self-harm, death, injury or suicide, and no graphic gore or realistic medical distress. Do not encourage, glorify or give instructions for self-harm or suicide. A warning or private repository does not make prohibited material acceptable.
  • Keep public usernames, titles, posts and profile content free of swearing, obscene language and deliberately disguised profanity. Accurate quotations of technical identifiers or source material must have a legitimate purpose and must not be used to target people.
  • Do not disclose someone else's private information, credentials or private messages without appropriate permission. Do not pressure people into revealing their identity or personal details.
  • No spam, deceptive links, fraudulent projects, abusive automation, malicious downloads or attempts to disrupt the site.
  • Respect copyright, licences, attribution and applicable law. Do not claim someone else's animation, research or code as your own.

Flipnote World has no Sensitive 16+ channel or age-gated area for mature media. Keep community content suitable for the site's 13+ audience. Factual, non-graphic discussion for education or support is different from depicting or promoting prohibited harm; staff consider context.

5. Your work and permission to host it

You retain the rights you already hold in your work. Only upload or import material that you have the rights or permission to share. A file being downloadable, a repository being public, or a format accepting a file does not give you those rights.

By submitting material, you give Flipnote World a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, serve, reproduce, format, create previews of and moderate it as needed to provide and protect the service. For private material, this permission is limited by the access settings and operational needs described in our Privacy Policy. It does not transfer ownership or let us sell your work as our own.

Other users may view, quote, download, clone or fork public material where the feature and applicable rights allow. Public visibility does not, by itself, make a project open source. Choose a clear licence if you want to permit reuse; follow upstream licences and retain required notices when importing or forking work. Your submission does not automatically change a repository's licence.

Hosting permission ends when the material is removed, except for copies reasonably needed for backups, security, moderation or legal obligations. It cannot revoke rights you separately granted through a licence or remove lawful copies held by other people.

6. Repositories, imports and Git history

You may use the Git service to host and collaborate on Flipnote-related projects. Set visibility and collaborator permissions carefully. Public repositories and their commits, issues, pull requests, releases and associated files can be read and copied by others. Private repositories are available to authorised collaborators; administrators can access them when reasonably needed to operate, secure or moderate the service.

Git commits can preserve names, email addresses, dates and earlier file versions. Check that information before pushing. Deleting a file in a later commit does not remove it from earlier commits. Removing a repository or making it private cannot recall existing clones, forks, exports or downloads.

Import a GitHub, GitLab or other repository only when you are permitted to do so. Check which history, issues, wiki pages and other information the import will copy, and check the destination visibility. Importing private material into a public repository makes that copy public. Use the minimum permissions needed for an import token, and revoke it when it is no longer required.

Do not commit passwords, private keys, access tokens, personal account data, unauthorised Nintendo ROMs, decrypted commercial assets or other material you may not distribute. If a credential is exposed, revoke or rotate it promptly; removing it from the latest file is insufficient. Do not use repository hosting, packages or automation to distribute malware or abuse other systems. Availability of an automation feature does not promise that a runner or build capacity is provided.

7. Documentation, research and contributions

Documentation corrections and project-directory submissions require staff approval before publication. We may request changes, decline a submission or correct an existing page. Approval is not a guarantee that research, software or instructions are accurate, safe or complete. Cite sources, distinguish verified behaviour from inference and respect original contributors.

Format research, interoperability work and lawful reverse engineering are welcome. They do not authorise attacks, credential theft, impersonation or testing against someone else's device or service without permission. Report a security problem privately to rekunote@gmail.com rather than posting live credentials or details that expose users to immediate harm.

Some FSID identity, authentication and network research requires staff-approved access or an account-bound, single-use access code. Do not bypass those controls or redistribute restricted pages, access codes or non-public research without permission. Access may be revoked. These controls restrict access; they cannot make copying or screenshots technically impossible.

8. Moderation, reports and appeals

Staff may hide or remove content, close discussions, restrict research access or Git features, or suspend or terminate accounts when needed to address rule-breaking, security risks or legal obligations. We consider the content, context, severity, earlier incidents and risk to other people. Serious abuse can lead to immediate restrictions without a warning.

Private repositories and unpublished submissions remain subject to these Terms. Staff access to non-public information is limited to legitimate operational, safety, moderation or legal needs. We may retain relevant evidence and review records.

To report a problem or appeal a decision, email rekunote@gmail.com with your World username, relevant links and a short explanation. Do not post private evidence in a public forum thread. We may ask for information to verify that you control the account. Making a good-faith report or appeal is not a violation of these rules.

9. Leaving and removing content

You can stop using the site at any time. Use the available settings to manage your account, connections and repositories, or contact us for account deletion or a content-removal request. Account unlinking and logging out are not deletion requests.

Some information may need to remain to preserve other people's contributions, Git attribution, security records or a legal obligation. We will explain relevant limits when handling a request. Our retention section explains backups and copies outside our control. Do not rely on Flipnote World as your only backup.

10. Availability and responsibility

We aim to keep the service useful and reliable, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, permanent hosting or error-free documentation. Test software and instructions carefully, particularly when working with original hardware or valuable savedata. External websites and projects are responsible for their own services and policies.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses arising from service interruptions, lost copies or reliance on community material. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude, including liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Changes and contact

We will publish the current Terms here with their effective date. Material changes will be brought to users' attention through an appropriate site notice before or when they take effect. If you disagree, stop using the affected features and contact us if you need help taking a copy of your work or closing your account.

Flipnote World's Privacy Policy explains information handling. RexiMemo's separate Terms of Use apply when you use RexiMemo itself. Questions: rekunote@gmail.com.
